Comando Colibrí is a Mexico-based feminist self-defense initiative for women and other bodies in danger. Beyond self-defense training, Comando Colibrí aims to teach self-confidence, healing and group care. Therefore, it needs a visual identity that communicates the power and importance of the community you are building. It should inspire strength and confidence while at the same time feel welcoming and inclusive. It should communicate group care, diversity, solidarity and ultimately love.
Having an impactful and consistent visual identity that reflects the values of Comando Colibrí will help maintain a distinct and recognizable voice when communicating with students as well as with other organizations and contributors.
Drawing inspiration from peaceful, warm, inviting and earthy colors of Mexico. The new identity celebrates the arts and community, and the role that women play in enriching history.
This project was done with a group of talented women at Spotify with close collaboration with the founders, Darinka. Thank you to Ellen Pai, Angeline Toh, Christine Motch, and more.
